Why MediSked is a Best Place to Work

Why MediSked is a Best Place to Work

MediSked has been named among the best places to work in New York State and Rochester Region in recent years. Employee Experience Supervisor Amanda Cates shares her perspective on why and what makes MediSked stand out among employers in our community and our industry.

We all have goals – we want to matter and we want to make a difference. We want to be important, we want the freedom to do work that inspires us, we want respect from our peers and recognition for our accomplishments. We don’t want these because we are selfish, we want them because we have a desire to fulfill our personal potential.

At MediSked we believe our people are our biggest asset. Honestly, we do – it’s not just a cool tagline on our website! We employ a team of incredibly talented staff that bring with them passion and a drive to make a difference with the work that they do. Behind these teams of incredibly talented staff is a company culture that motivates them to work at their top performance level and to set high expectations. A culture that rewards the talented team members that go above and beyond on a consistent basis.

I know at this point you’re shaking your head and thinking I’m trying to pull a fast one but I’m not. MediSked is different because we have an executive team and managers that work in the trenches right next to the newly hired and seasoned team members. We are different because we seek out new ways to motivate those teams that are tackling large important projects. 2018 was a year of large projects here at MediSked, we had a lot of team members that went above and beyond to drive these projects to completion. On top of the normal motivations and rewards, you know like paychecks and a great benefits package, we challenged ourselves with finding new ways to reward these outstanding team members.

During the peak months of the projects (you know the times I’m talking about: the ones where you feel you’re wearing your stress like a coat, your patience is wearing thin and you only eat lunch at your desk) we implemented the MediSked 8 Weeks of Fun. Eight themed weeks that focused on rewarding our team members with things like in-house massage therapists, ice cream trucks, snow cone trucks, lunchtime BBQs, family picnics, and luau lunches. We also implemented the weekly newsletter with a kudos feature allowing team members to give shout out recognition to each other for going above and beyond.

At MediSked we strive each and every day to push our team members to think big and do work that makes them proud of themselves. We work hard, but at the end of the day, we are a team that appreciates the person sitting next to us even when we don’t agree. At the end of the project we all felt that we were important, we had the respect of our peers and we were recognized for the amazing project that we had accomplished. At the end of the project, we realized there is more potential on our team than we could have imagined and we are ready to face the next big thing. If you have a desire to fulfill your personal potential, to do work that makes a difference, and be part of a top-notch team, I encourage you to check out our careers page. Who knows, you might be the next individual participating in 8 More Weeks of Fun!
