FAQs About MediSked Virtual Visits
1. What is MediSked Virtual Visits?
MediSked Virtual Visits is an opportunity to connect via video conference or phone calls with MediSked team members to support social interactions and community inclusion. MediSked volunteers will host 30-minute activity-based sessions with individuals.
2. What are some of the activities that may be offered during the sessions?
Karaoke, story reading, crafts, virtual museum visits, simple workouts, trivia, music, and more!
3. Who will be talking to the people my agency supports?
The hosts for the video calls will be MediSked employees. All MediSked employees have been trained on and are aware of HIPAA privacy and security rules and protections.
4. Can staff be present during the session?
Yes, staff are more than welcome to be present for the duration of the session.
5. I am a parent/guardian. Do I need to be present for the Virtual Visit?
That is entirely up to the individual. Several parents have let us know that the Virtual Visit provided some much-needed respite time, while others have chosen to sit in.
6. How will the logistics of the sessions work?
MediSked will be utilizing Microsoft Teams to conduct the Virtual Visits. Microsoft Teams Meetings have unparalleled usability, which makes it easy to start, join, and collaborate across any device. The Virtual Visits will be scheduled via our bookings site below. Simply click the “Schedule a Virtual Visit” button below to pick the desired time and event. Once submitted, you will receive an email confirming your Virtual Visit, along with a link to enter the meeting.
7. Do we need to have technology set up?
We understand that not everyone has access to a camera-enabled device. We have the option for video calls via Microsoft Teams or for phone calls. The individual and their support staff can decide which option they prefer.
8. What if an individual shares information about health, abuse, neglect, etc.?
MediSked is happy to provide mandatory reporting training to our staff volunteers. An individual’s support staff are more than welcome to remain present during the entirety of the meeting. We can also have our staff undergo a background check if that is the policy of your company.
9. I loved my Virtual Visit! Can I participate in more?
We’re so glad that you had a good time! Virtual Visits are based on availability – if there is an open time slot, then you are welcome to participate again.
